NOTE. Of these illustrations, the map was adapted from the latest Admiralty
surveys, and the sections (both physical and geological) across various parts of the
Channel and Islands were designed and drawn on wood, by Professor Ansted.
The plans of harbours were reduced from the working plans by W. H. Le Mesu-
rier, Esq., resident engineer of the harbour works at Guernsey. The diagrams
of climate were prepared by Dr. Hoskins, and reduced and drawn on wood by
Professor Ansted.
